Very Large Ancient Javanese Jatim Bead, Heavily Damaged Condition - Rita Okrent Collection (AG334)Gorgeous 26 mm ancient glass Jatim bead with green backgrounds with yellow decorations. Handmade on the island of Java. Damaged. Could be used as part of design in which back of bead is embedded in another material. Sourced by Rita in the early 1980's. Ancient Jatim beads were produced in Java in the first millenium AD. They are large and small polychrome beads named for their close association with east Java, or Jawa Timor. Between 300 and 700CE
